M-Sport Ford boosted by its drivers' pace in Monte Carlo

The team principal of M-Sport Ford, Richard Millener, admits that his drivers achieved the three goals of the team on the season opener and he is very pleased for both of them.

Adrien Fourmaux finished in fifth place overall and was the top driver for M-Sport Ford while he was fourth after Ott Tanak sliding off the road in Stage 3 and dropping almost 40 seconds there. On the other hand, Gregoire Munster was in sixth position until Stage 12 where he went off the road and had to retire from Saturday afternoon. The driver from Luxemburg restarted under the regulations of SuperRally on Sunday and finished 20th on the overall classification. However, it was a surprise for the rally community that the Ford duo managed to be the third-fastest drivers in two stages of Rallye Monte Carlo showing their skills and the potential of Puma Rally1.

"We came here with a clear goal of getting both cars to the finish, to gain experience with the drivers and to show that we can be competitive this year", Millener said.

"I firmly believe we achieved all of this.

"Both crews each scored a third fastest time and drove sensibly over what was still a tricky Monte-Carlo Rally.

"I am really pleased for both of them, and also the team who, as-ever, worked very hard to get us here and gave us two perfectly reliable cars.

"Of course it was a shame for Grégoire and Louis on Saturday afternoon but apart from that we can all be very positive heading into Sweden in a couple of weeks time".
