Jari-Matti Latvala says that he is in discussions with Toyota to take part in Rally Finland with the next August with the GR Yaris Rally1 and is referring that he lost the chance to drive an old car of Toyota at last weekend's SM Tuuri Ralli due to the Safari tests.
The Finn called time on his professional career as a WRC driver in 2019, but he did two outings at Rally Finland in 2020 and 2023 having driven a Yaris WRC and a GR Yaris Rally1 respectively. He managed to finish at the top five on his latest participation at his home event seven months ago and had Juho Hanninen as his co-driver. He took over the team principal role of Toyota in 2021, but the most important thing is that he still does some outings in rallies with his Celica while he had the chance to drive the new GR Yaris Rally2 at Rally Hokkaido last September.
"We are talking about what is possible", Latvala said.
"Let’s see what we can do.
"We had some discussions about using the car on my home rally, but it was not possible due to the Safari test schedule.
"It would, of course, be really nice to go back to Secto Rally Finland again".
