Portugal stays at WRC calendar until 2026

The FIA and the WRC Promoter announced that Rally de Portugal has secured its slot at the calendar of World Rally Championship until the end of 2026.

More specifically, the contract between WRC Promoter and the organizers of Rally de Portugal was about to expire at the end of 2024, but both parties have reached a new agreement in which this iconic event will remain in the series for further two seasons. The Rally de Portugal of 2024 marked the 56 years its presence in World Rally Championship where Sebastien Ogier claimed a record win this weekend as he has become the WRC driver with the most victories there overtaking Markku Alen who had won five times this gravel rally. Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville finished behind Ogier securing a double podium for Hyundai Motorsport while Adrien Fourmaux stole the fourth place from Dani Sordo on the final day of this year's Rally de Portugal.
