Rally Poland - 3rd Day - 1st Loop: First-place battle tightens as Rovanpera grabs the lead



At the end of Saturday morning, Kalle Rovanpera tops Rally Poland with Elfyn Evans and Andreas Mikkelsen following him.

Kalle Rovanpera stormed into the lead at the end of Stage 10 as he set the fastest time on the first two stages of Saturday morning as well as in the superspecial stage.

Elfyn Evans comes right behind his teammate for 0,4 seconds while their gap was at one tenth of a second after the end of SS11. The Welshman cut Rovanpera's lead from 1,4 to 0,1 seconds at the end of SS11 and will try to take the lead on the remaining three stages till the end of Saturday in order to score valuable points for his championship fight.

Andreas Mikkelsen lost two places in one stage and is now third since the end of Stage 10, but he managed to cut the gap of Toyota duo in Stage 11 as he was the fastest driver there.

Adrien Fourmaux remains in fourth place overall and has managed to increase his gap from the debutant Martins Sesks from 0,2 to seconds.

Thierry Neuville gained one position and moved up to sixth at the end of Stage 10 while he struggled with his i20N as he changed the set-up in Stage 10.

Gregoire Munster dropped to seventh as Neuville decreased their gap to 2,4 seconds at the end of Stage 9.

Takamoto Katsuta is still in eighth place, but he will try to catch Munster on the classification on the afternoon loop in order to finish as highest as he can on Saturday.

Ott Tanak restarted today under the SuperRally regulations following his collision with a deer in Stage 2 a day ago. In addition to that, the Estonian reported an engine issue with his car after the superspecial stage.
