Sebastien Ogier reveals that he will take part at Rally Latvia next week after the recce accident he had in Poland and feels excited for this new challenge.
The Frenchman was forced to miss Rally Poland as he and Vincent Landais had a road accident during their recce for SS10 and SS14 of Rally Poland. Their Yaris collided head-on with a passenger car and all the people involved to this crash were transferred to th hospital. Landais was discharged at the hospital at the same day of the crash, but Ogier had to stay for an overnight medical observation. He was free to leave the following day after his crash and returned back to his home while Toyota announced that Kalle Rovanpera would drive the third GR Yaris Rally1 in Poland. Ogier's recovery was very quick as Rally Latvia will be held three weeks after the end of Rally Poland. The Japanese team counts on Ogier for the upcoming WRC round as he will score points for the manufacturer championship together with Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanpera while it must be mentioned that Sami Pajari's WRC debut was delayed until Rally Finland due to the fact that Toyota changed its initial plan at the last moment in order to close its gap from the first Hyundai.
"It was quite unfortunate what happened during our preparations in Poland", Ogier said.
"Now after some rest, and some good help from my medical team, I could recover pretty quickly and I’m looking forward to being back in a rally car in Latvia.
"The challenge of a new rally is generally something I like and that’s one of the reasons we added this event to our programme.
"The target for us will be to find the feeling for the very high-speed roads quickly after missing Poland, but I’m always excited for a new challenge and let’s see what we can do".
