Sami Pajari says that he has not set a goal in terms of his final result at Rally Finland next week and reveals which approach will follow on his home event saying that Toyota has helped him to feel comfortable inside the Yaris during his test.
Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT will bring five Rally1 cars at Rally Finland next week as Pajari secured a drive with the hybrid Yaris on his home event thanks to WRC Promoter. The young Finn is currently competing with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 in WRC2 class and has won two rallies and three rallies in WRC2 class and in WRC2 Challenger class respectively while he is the championship leader in WRC2 Challenger. His WRC debut was set to be made in Latvia a week ago, but Toyota decided to bring the fourth Yaris for Sebastien Ogier in order to close its gap to the first Hyundai on the manufacturers championship, thus Pajari will make his first appearance at the top class in Finland having Sebastien Ogier, Kalle Rovanpera, Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta as his teammates. Finally, Toyota revealed the livery of Pajari's car yesterday in which the white is the dominant color.
"I’ve been really looking forward to Rally Finland for a few weeks now", Pajari said.
"To make my Rally1 debut with TGR-WRT on my home event is going to be a really exciting moment.
"I’ve had some good test days with the team to help me get used to the car and prepare for the event, but it’s still going to be a big challenge: the stages in Finland can be really demanding with extremely high speeds and many tricky crests.
"The most important thing is to gain the experience and finish the rally.
"Of course, I’d like to show some pace as well, but it’s not so easy to set any target in terms of final result.
"The best approach is not to think about that, and just to learn and progress step by step".
