At the end of the first day, Kalle Rovanpera takes an early lead in Latvia with Thierry Neuville and Sebastien Ogier following him.
Kalle Rovanpera was the fastest driver in the superspecial stage at Biķernieki Track and has left Thierry Neuville behind for 2,4 seconds.
Sebastien Ogier set an identical time with Neuville in Stage 1, but the Belgian was faster for some thousandths of a second, thus Ogier completes the 1-3 for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT on his return after his injury.
Martins Sesks is the top M-Sport Ford driver for one more time since the morning and 0,5 seconds separate him from the third place.
Elfyn Evans is fifth overall and ahead of his teammate Takamoto Katsuta for 1,7 seconds.
Ott Tanak comes right behind Katsuta on the classification for only three tenths of a second and will try to catch the frontrunners tomorrow.
Adrien Fourmaux, Esapekka Lappi and Gregoire Munster complete the top ten.
All the WRC drivers found difficulty with the tyre strategy as the hard compound was not the ideal for this track.
