Rovanpera's WRC victory in Latvia is a special one for his career

Kalle Rovanpera admits that his being victorious at Rally Latvia was a special result for him considering how he started his career and praises Jonne Halttunen and Toyota.

The two-time WRC Champion started his career from Latvia where he took part in this championship and crowned as a Latvian Champion two times from 2016 to 2017. Latvia became the 37th country, which hosted a WRC round, and Toyota chose Rovanpera, Sebastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta to participate there. Rovanpera was leading Rally Latvia since Stage 1 since the end and reached his 200th stage win in World Rally Championship while he has claimed two wins in a row and has brought the fifth victory of Toyota in 2024. Generally, he stayed out of trouble last weekend and only struggled with the balance and with understeer in Stage 3. He won eleven from twenty stages of Rally Latvia and now is in sixth place on the championship which means that he will have a good road position for his home event in two weeks.

"It has been a really great weekend for us and for the team", Rovanpera said.

"Latvia is a special place for me and my career and almost a home rally in a way so it’s really cool to win the first WRC rally here.

"A big thank you to the team: I think we were very strong here, maybe more than we expected.

"Together with Seb finishing second we took some more really important points for the team.

"Thanks also to Jonne: I think we did a good job the whole weekend.

"We will enjoy this result now and then look forward to Rally Finland which will be another challenge".
