Adrien Fourmaux believes that he is one of the title contenders for this year's WRC crown and supports his opinion by the fact that he is now closer to Ott Tanak and Elfyn Evans while he is optimistic that he will score good points in Greece.
The Frenchman became the #1 driver of M-Sport Ford this year and claimed his maiden podium in World Rally Championship at Rally Sweden last February while he has finished at the lowest place of the podium four times so far this season due to his consistency. Moreover, he took his first ever Powerstage win at the top class, but the most noteworthy achievement is that he has only one restart under the SuperRally regulations compared to 2022 where he had four accidents and one restart with the Ford Puma Rally1. His four podiums plus his stability and his speed have put him on the sight of Hyundai Motorsport which is going to change the third-car policy and is looking for a full-time driver for the third i20N seat ahead of 2025. At the end of Rally Finland, Fourmaux remains fifth on the championship with 119 points which means that he will have a good road position for Acropolis Rally which will be held in two weeks. Last but not least, the third Ott Tanak and the fourth Elfyn Evans are just 18 and 13 points ahead of Fourmaux on the standings with four rounds remaining until the end of the 2024 season.
"Anything can happen", Fourmaux said.
"We have really reduced the gap with Elfyn and Ott, so I think everything is possible.
"We still have a good position for Greece, so maybe we can get some extra points for Greece.
"I’ve been good in Greece also myself with the Rally2 car.
"And the car has shown a good pace in Greece.
"I was comfortable in Sardinia before the alternator issue, so I think we can maybe do something interesting.
"I just don’t give up and I just go ahead.
"I know that things can happen and Finland showed that it’s never finished until you cross the finish line.
"So I don’t give up, I do my best and I try to get the maximum of points every time".
