Fourmaux explains his road to the Finland podium

Adrien Fourmaux says that he worked very hard throughout last weekend to find the right set-up for his car and did not expect to finished at the podium positions at Rally Finland revealing that he tried to have a sensible drive.

M-Sport Ford did not schedule a pre-event test for its drivers ahead of Rally Finland, thus Fourmaux was struggling to rhythm with his Puma last weekend. It was very difficult for the Frenchman to drive his car in the mornings and was experimenting with the settings in order to improve the set-up for the afternoons. He stayed out of trouble on the first two days of Rally Finland apart from Sunday where he lost the rear of his Puma around halfway in Stage 17 as one cut pushed him a bit wide. After Kalle Rovanpera's accident in Stage 19, Fourmaux climbed to third overall and secured his fourth podium of the season with M-Sport Ford in Finland while he has finished at the lowest place of the podium four times so far in 2024. He remains fifth on the drivers' championship and is now 13 points behind the fourth Elfyn Evans at the end of Rally Finland while their gap was at 31 points at the end of Rally Latvia.

“It has been a tricky weekend, I have struggled to find confidence in the car in the tough conditions, but once I knew it was going to be difficult to fight the top guys I wanted to do a sensible drive and so I worked on the car setup over the first two days and just made sure I didn’t make any mistakes", Fourmaux said.

"We found some good improvements and driving Ouninpohja in this car was just amazing.

"To end the rally with a podium is not necessarily what I was expecting, but a focused drive all weekend made sure we were there in case anything happened to the others and I can be really happy with my weekend and my fourth podium this year!

"Now I look forward to a few weeks off before Rally Greece and the rest of the season, where I want to be strong and keep challenging for the top spots".
