Ogier did not want to win Rally Finland like this way as Rovanpera was in a different league

Sebastien Ogier says that motorsport is unfair sometimes and would like to finish second rather winning Rally Finland after Kalle Rovanpera's crash as he believes that his teammate was in a different league last weekend.

The eight-time WRC Champion was fighting with Rovanpera and Elfyn Evans for the victory of Rally Finland and was in third place overall until Stage 12 where Evans lost many seconds and dropped from second to eighth at the end of Saturday morning as his Yaris suffered from driveshaft issues. On the other hand, Rovanpera managed to build a comfortable lead over Ogier at the end of Saturday while he extended further his gap on Sunday when he went fastest on the first two stages of that day. However, the young Finn could not avoid a rock in the racing line and rolled his Yaris in Stage 19 while Toyota lost previously Evans on the same stage as the last one went off 200 meters into the stage. After Rovanpera's retirement, Ogier was the only driver from Toyota, who could score points for his team, and returned back to the top step of the podium in Finland after eleven years. Last but not least, he collected 18 points from Saturday classification and six points from Sunday and is now second on the championship which means that he has the chance to fight for his ninth WRC title despite his part-time campaign this season.

"To win in Finland is always nice, even if this is not the way we would like to have taken it", Ogier said.

"The team provided an amazing car and dominated all weekend. 

"Kalle and Jonne were in a different league than the rest and were very unlucky with this rock on the line.

"I feel for my team as we deserved a much better result.

"I lost a win in Sardinia earlier this season through luck and I have now gained one back here. 

"I have been around long enough to experience many outcomes and emotions and I’ve been lucky to be on the right side of that equation most of the time – but not today. 

"I would honestly have preferred to finish second but motorsport is unfair sometimes".
