Sebastien Ogier says that he has to take part in all remaining rounds of this year's championship considering the current situation in which he can fight for his ninth WRC title.
The Frenchman had agreed with a part-time campaign with Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT for this season and has participated in six events so far this season where he has won three times and has finished second overall in three rallies. He was forced to skip Rally Poland after his having suffered from an injury due to a recce accident while Rally Chile and Central European Rally were not on his programme in 2024 which means that he would drive for Toyota in Greece and in Japan. At the end of Rally Finland, Ogier is second overall on the championship standings and is 27 points behind the leader Thierry Neuville. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that Ogier is the eight-time WRC Champion and has the chance now to reach Sebastien Loeb's records as his compatriot has won nine championships and keeps the record with the most titles in WRC history, but the most important is that he can claim his ninth crown doing a partial campaign.
"Originally, Chile and Central Europe weren’t on my list", Ogier said.
"Given the current situation in the manufacturers’ and drivers’ championships, however, it’s clear that I will now compete in the four remaining WRC rounds and fight for the title once again.
"I don’t care much about numbers, statistics, or records.
"I have other priorities.
"I’ll drive as long as it brings me joy and I can still compete.
"And I want to make one thing clear: I will never compete in a full WRC season again.
"After this rather intense season, I might even do less next year".
