At the end of Friday evening, Kalle Rovanpera still tops the overall classification with Elfyn Evans and Sebastien Ogier following him.
Kalle Rovanpera extends his rally lead over his teammates as he was the fastest driver on the first two stages of Friday evening.
Elfyn Evans keeps his second place, but his position is under threat by his teammate Sebastien Ogier as their gap is only at 0,6 seconds before the start of Saturday.
Ogier completes the 1-2-3 for Toyota and went fastest on the final stage of the day while he managed to cut Evans's advantage on Friday afternoon from 2,8 to 0,6 seconds.
Thierry Neuville is still fourth overall and claimed his second stage win so far this weekend as he was fastest in Stage 8, but it must be mentioned that he was the only Hyundai driver remained on this loop.
Adrien Fourmaux completes the top five and was happier with the behavior of his Puma as the mechanics gave to him the right set-up for the remaining five stages of Friday.
Sami Pajari follows the M-Sport Ford driver on the classification and showed his intentions in Stage 6 as he was the second-fastest driver there. However, he claimed his maiden WRC stage win in SS9 of Rally Finland on his debut with the GR Yaris Rally1.
Gregoire Munter lost his sixth place from Pajari at the end of Stage 6 with their gap being at 2,7 seconds after SS6, but it must be mentioned that his Puma carried an issue since the start of SS6.
Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnston were not able to fix the damaged rear right suspension of their Yaris in order to return back to the service park, so they retired before the start of the evening loop.
Esapekka Lappi was in fourth place at the end of Stage 5 and was in the mix for the podium fight, but he had to retire in Stage 6 as he went off and damaged the front right suspension in the ruts after springing out and clipping a tree.
