Ott Tanak explains the crash he and Martin Jarveoja had in Stage 3 of Rally Finland saying that both of them are healthy and their plan is to get back to the car in Greece next month.
Tanak and Jarveoja started second on the road on the opening day of Rally Finland and had an early crash in Stage 3 after their i20N sliding wide and going off the road before hitting a tree. Both of them were able to exit their i20N without an assistance and received medical help at the scene, but Jarveoja was transferred to the hospital for further medical checks as he was complaining about back pains. Hyundai Motorsport published a press release yesterday afternoon in which the team confirmed that the Estonians are forced to retire for the rest of Rally Finland while Jarveoja had to stay in the hospital for overnight observation. So far, we do not know anything else about Jarveoja's health status and it is very early for them to confirm if they will compete at Acropolis Rally next month, but it must be mentioned that they got even closer to the championship leaders Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe as their gap was at eight points at the end of Rally Latvia.
"Thankfully, both Martin and I are ok after the accident", Tanak said.
"We went wide, rolled over and hit a tree.
"I don't think it was anything special – some rain, but all normal.
"Of course it is a shame that we will leave scoring no points, but the most important thing is that we are fine following the accident.
"Martin will take some time to recover but the plan is to be in the car again in Greece".
