Janne Ferm confirmed today his retirement from his professional career as a co-driver which means that Rally Chile was his final event in World Rally Championship.
The Finn navigator has been alongside Esapekka Lappi for 15 years and together won two WRC rounds (Rally Finland of 2017 and Rally Sweden of 2024) while they have finished at the podium places 15 times. Moreover, they became WRC2 Champions with Skoda Motorsport back in 2016 when they were competing with the Fabia R5 while they started their rookie season at the top level with the Toyota Yaris WRC a year later. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that Lappi's future plans are still unknown as it is speculated that Hyundai may not renew his contract for 2025.
"I was thinking that I just quit and it’s not big of a deal but everybody is…:, Ferm said.
"The rally family who was now just giving the hugs and cheers and everything, so now it has been an emotional day.
"It has been a journey, there is ups and downs and everything.
"Of course you can mention those two wins, but still, all the families we are involved and everything like EP said and just the man who he is.
"It has been my privilege that I have been able to be there with him and he has been supporting me and in a way I have been supporting him as well.
"I have to thank him from the bottom of my heart".
