Thierry Neuville clarifies that he will remain being a driver and is not interested in running Hyundai's customer team in 2026 after the latest rumors on Hyundai's exit from WRC.
Neuville and Hyundai announced the renewal of their collaboration for one more year, the team's future in World Rally Championship is still uncertain as they are interested in racing at LeMans 24h and at WEC from 2026 and have already developed a LMDh prototype car. On the other hand, the Belgian has expressed his thoughts on retiring from World Rally Championship earlier this season, but eventually he will continue driving at the top level in 2025. If Hyundai leaves World Rally Championship, this means that the remaining WRC teams will be only Toyota and M-Sport Ford, thus it is crucial for FIA to clarify the regulations of 2027 in order to give the chance to other car brands to join the sport in the future. However, the positive thing is that we saw Lancia returning back to the rallying with the Ypsilon HF Rally4 and their intention is to develop further this car as Stellantis Group may think of revive the Italian car brand's WRC history in the future.
"No", Neuville answered when he was asked if he’d discussed running a customer team in 2026 with his current employers.
"At the moment, I’m not involved in any discussions or whatever.
"My goal is still being a driver for at least one more year, maybe a few more years if there are great opportunities".
