Hyundai Motorsport confirmed today that Thierry Neuville will remain to the squad until the end of 2025 becoming the first driver who is being announced by the Koreans.
The Belgian driver is currently leading the championship over the second Sebastien Ogier by 27 points before the start of Acropolis Rally and reels in claiming his maiden driver title not only for himself, but also for Hyundai. He has been a Hyundai driver since the Alzenau-based team rejoined World Rally Championship back in 2014 and it seems that they are in good terms for many years. Neuville admitted earlier this season that he was not sure if he would continue being a professional WRC driver as he was considering his retirement from the sport at the end of this year, but he and Hyundai reached a new agreement ahead of the 2025 season. Moreover, it is rumored since yesterday that Neuville could run his own private team with i20Ns from 2026 as Hyundai is set to exit WRC at the end of 2025. Last but not least, Hyundai's renewal with Neuville means that the Korean squad will remain in World Rally Championship next year, thus the number of the WRC teams will remain the same.
"I am very happy to extend my contract with Hyundai Motorsport for the 2025 FIA World Rally Championship season", Neuville said.
"There are not many partnerships in motorsport that have spanned as long as ours, but since 2014 we have achieved great success together.
"I’ve said before that this team has become a second family to me, and our ambition and motivation has only grown year after year.
"It would be a great honour to win our first drivers’ title with them at the end of this season, and to carry that forward into a 12th year together. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us".
