Sebastien Ogier feels desappointment with the mistakes he made in Chile last week, but at the same time he is happy that helped Toyota with the manufacturers' championship and the speed he showed during all the last weekend.
The Frenchman was the WRC driver with the most stage wins in Chile last week, but his rally did not start well as he suffered from a rear puncture after hitting a bank on the outside and had to stop 4.4Km into SS3 in order to change the wheel and to continue. In Stage 6, he said that he had no hybrid power while he was forced to retire in Stage 8 with a front right suspension damage and beached his Yaris into a bank 25.1Km into Stage 8. His mechanics managed to repair his car and restarted under the SuperRally regulations on Sunday where he scored twelve points as he topped the SuperSunday and was the fastest driver in Powerstage. However, his chances for the ninth title have faded considering the fact that he is now 41 points behind the championship leader Thierry Neuville, but he will drive the Yaris at CER and at Rally Japan which means that he will help Toyota to gain some ground on the manufacturers' championship.
"It’s nice to finish the weekend on a positive note and really help the team on Sunday to bring the manufacturers’ championship back alive", Ogier said.
"I still feel a bit disappointed with myself and the mistakes we made on the previous days which were very costly, because we had amazing speed and won most of the stages we finished.
"But that’s not enough in rallying: you need to put it all together and we didn’t do that this weekend.
"I had a lot of fun driving the car and I want to thank the team for all their efforts improving the car, as it’s never felt so good on gravel.
"We are going in the right direction and we will keep on pushing up to Rally Japan".
