The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, hints that Kalle Rovanpera will return with a full programme next year reporting his driver's statements.
The two-time WRC Champion decided to take part in a limited number of rallies this year after his having secured his second title in World Rally Championship in 2024, but the rumors suggest that Rovanpera will return back to action in 2025 in order to fight for his third crown in WRC. It is speculated that he will extend his contract with Toyota for one more year, but the Japanese team is considering its options ahead of the new season as they may change their philosophy. Latvala stated recently that Toyota needs three full-time drivers for 2025 in order to fight against Hyundai and does not rule out the possibility of running a fourth Yaris for a part-season driver while Sami Pajari may join the team next year. Last but not least, Sebastien Ogier is set to have another partial campaign with Toyota which means that we do not know what Toyota will choose for Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta.
"Kalle has already mentioned himself that that he is doing a full season and this is what we have been targeting", Latvala said.
"It is clear that if Kalle drives, then it's a full season, we just need to check a couple of things.
"But that is the way we want it to be".
