WRC Commission will have a meeting on Wednesday in order to discuss the future of the World Rally Championship.
According to sources, it is speculated that the new regulations will continue with the Rally1 cars, but the costs will be lower by the half. Apart from the Rally1 cars, it is rumored that the next-generation of cars will use an internal combustion engine with sustainable fuel or will be hydrogen-powered. Full electric cars are also an option, but the WRC Commission believes that the sport is not ready yet for these cars. Furthermore, there is a possibility for Rally2 cars to have the same spaceframe chassis as the Rally1 cars. Last but not least, the lower cost of the current Rally1 cars may attract some private teams to the World Rally Championship, but on the condition that the WRC manufacturers will offer spare parts to them.
