Croatia Rally closing in returning back to WRC from 2026

WRC Promoter and FIA are set to include Croatia Rally at the WRC calendar from 2026 as this tarmac event lost its place from Rally Islas Canarias in World Rally Championship next season.

World Rally Championship visited Croatia for the first time in the history in 2021 and managed to secure its slot at the WRC calendar for four consecutive years, but Islas Canarias will replace Croatia in 2025. However, Croatia Rally will host a round for the European Rally Championship next season, but the organizers are very close in reaching a new two-year agreement with FIA and WRC Promoter with this tarmac event setting to return back to WRC in 2026. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that all the winners of Croatia Rally were from Toyota side including Kalle Rovanpera and Elfyn Evans, but Sebastien Ogier is the driver with the most victories there as he has won this event twice back in 2021 and six months ago.

"In 2025, we are bringing the European Rally Championship to Croatia, and then in 2026 and 2027, the WRC Croatia Rally will return", the chairman of the Croatia Rally organising committee, Daniel Saskin, said.

"We thank all the institutions for their support, especially the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, who recognised the value of this motorsport event for Croatia.

"Starting today, together with the WRC promoter and our local partners, counties, and municipalities, we begin negotiations on the preparation and execution of the event.

"We thank the City of Zagreb and the Croatian Auto and Karting Association for their continued support as important partners in these events".
