The team principal of Hyundai Motorsport, Cyril Abiteboul, says that his team has not decided yet its drivers for 2025 and is examining its options ahead of the new WRC season.
Thierry Neuville has already renewed his contract with Hyundai Motorsport for 2025 and it is expected that Ott Tanak will do the same as his teammate. The question mark is if Hyundai will choose to have part-time drivers for one more season or to offer a full campaign to a driver with the third i20N. The recent rumors are saying that Adrien Fourmaux has already reached an agreement with the Korean team for next year, but the Frenchman does not want to make a comment on this rumor. On the other hand, Hyundai selected Andreas Mikkelsen, Esapekka Lappi and Dani Sordo to get behind the wheel of the third i20N in 2024, but they did not deliver the results that the team wanted, thus Cyril Abiteboul had accepted his mistake and said earlier this year that Hyundai might change its third car policy for 2025. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that the WRC market is still open as only Neuville has been confirmed with wich team will compete for 2025.
"We are always closer to something", Abiteboul said.
"There are discussions and those will turn into options and that will turn into a decision.
"We are not quite there yet.
"You can always think about a lot of things but right now we are playing for three cars next year, but we are keeping our eyes open on opportunities.”
