Katsuta reveals he had the support of Toyota on his difficult career time

Takamoto Katsuta says that he had the support of his teammates and of Toyota people when he faced a difficult time of period on his WRC career right now and hopes he will return even stronger at Central European Rally.

The Japanese driver has only one podium finish this year when he finished second overall at Safari Rally Kenya last March while he was fighting for the top positions in some rallies, but overall, he has five restarts under the SuperRally regulations after his having made some mistakes. He decided to take a break and not to compete at Rally Chile, thus Sami Pajari replaced him and made his second outing with the GR Yaris Rally1 at the top level. Katsuta had signed a full-season contract with Toyota this year as Sebastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanpera wanted to have a partial campaign, but the fist one participated as a non-nominated driver when the last two competed in the same rally. Finally, Katsuta's name is included to the entry list of Central European Rally which will start next Thursday.

"Honestly, I really feel the team behind me and now I have to make the result to pay them back for this support", Katsuta said.

"I really appreciate the support from the guys, the drivers like Séb and Kalle and Elfyn – but also I want to tell you about people like Tom Fowler, Kévin Struyf and the other engineers.

"You know, these people have been around the sport for a while now – they have so much experience from this team and others and from other drivers.

"The way they have helped me has been incredible, they have worked with me outside of their engineering side and helped me on a personal level.

"I feel very humble and very happy to have them with me.

"To know they still believe in me means so much from people who see this job from a different way to me.

"They see through the eyes of the engineer and they could tell me different things to what I was thinking for myself.

"It’s with their help that I will be able to come back stronger.

"I want to do a good job to pay back everything they did for me".
