Rovanpera will be absent from Rally Japan as Latvala confirms

The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, reveals that Kalle Rovanpera will not be in Japan next month as he has already done the half season he had agreed with the team.

The Finn driver signed a part-time contract with Toyota this season as he wanted to take a rest physically and mentally, but also to take part in another motorsport series, such as drifting. Rovanpera has competed in seven rallies with the Yaris from which he finished at the top step of the podium three times. Rally Poland was not included in his partial campaign, but he had to replace the injured Sebastien Ogier at the last minute, while it was expected to do CER instead of his teammate who was fighting for the ninth title and had to extend further his programme with Toyota. This means that Rally Chile was the final rally for Rovanpera in 2024, but it is speculated that he will return as a full-time driver in 2025 in order to fight for his third crown in World Rally Championship.

"Kalle is not running in Japan", said Latvala.

"He had half a season and that half a season is already done from his side".
