Sordo may have a management role at Hyundai in 2025

Dani Sordo is set to have a management role at Hyundai Motorsport next year, but still he does not open his cards saying that Cyril Abiteboul will make this decision.

Sordo had signed a part-time contract with Hyundai Motorsport this year, but he was present during Central European Rally despite the fact that he would have not competed with the i20N Rally1 last week. The Spaniard has been a Hyundai driver since 2014 and takes part in a limited number of events the recent years, but he may retire from WRC at the end of 2024 or may make one more last outing with the i20N next year before his calling time on his professional career. Moreover, it must be mentioned that the Korean team is set to join World Endurance Championship and to race at LeMans 24h within three years which means that Cyril Abiteboul mast find a person in charge for WRC as the last one may return back to his circuit duties. Last but not least, Hyundai's future in World Rally Championship remains unknown as it is speculated that a private team will run i20Ns from 2026.

"I’m not the right person to talk about this", Sordo aswered if he would been involved at Hyundai's management in 2025.

"I think Cyril needs to be asked this question.

"For sure, Cyril can’t do all things now because he can’t make both projects at the same time.

"Now he has experience in rallying, but he was born in the circuit, so he loves the circuit.

"But I don’t know.

"If I do something, I will do it with all the team together and everybody, not only me because I couldn’t run a team like this alone.

"But to put the people together and to motivate the people and to make them all try to work in one direction, let’s see what happens.

"I don’t know, it’s something like I never did and for sure I don’t have experience in this.

"I have experience in rally, I know the rallies from many, many years.

"But it’s like when you make the interviews to everybody, it’s what you did all your life so for you it’s quite simple – but if I start to make your job, for me it will be much more complicated because I don’t have experience.

"For me to be in the rallies and to choose tyres and to know everything is quite easy because I did it for many, many years.

"But let’s see, I don’t know".
