Toyota is encouraged by Pajari's performance in Chile for the future

The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, says that it was encouraging for him team to see Sami Pajari performing well at Rally Chile and reveals that they are in talks with him, but nothing is decided yet.

The Finn driver made his second outing with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 last week and replaced Takamoto Katsuta at Rally Chile. He stayed out of trouble throughout the last weekend and was in fourth place at some point, but eventually he dropped two positions and finished sixth behind Thierry Neuville and Adrien Fourmaux. His next outing will be in Central Europe driving the Yaris Rally1 for a third time in the season while it is expected to participate at Rally Japan in WRC2 class as he is among the three WRC2 title contenders for this year.

"Sami did an absolutely perfect result he did what we wanted him to do", Latvala said.

"We couldn't ask for more.

"We wanted him to have a consistent run and we can see that there is speed and he said himself that he could do more but I told him that we just wanted him to get more kilometres and get more comfortable in the car.

"There are going to be more steps to climb in the future.

"What we have seen I would be very encouraged to see him driving more events next year.

"There are some discussions but no decisions".
