FIA is set to drop the hybrid cars at the end of 2024

FIA is set to drop the Rally1 cars with immediate effect at the end of 2024 as the costs are very high for the WRC teams.

FIA announced at the World Motor Council, which was held last February, that the Rally1 cars will not continue in World Rally Championship from 2025, but afterwards changed its mind and decided that the Rally1 cars would exist until the end of 2026. However, an e-vote happened during Central European Rally a month ago where the teams and the WRC Commission voted against the continuation of the Rally1 cars meaning that there will be new regulations from 2025. The official confirmation will come at the next World Motor Council, which will be held on December 11th, while WRC Commission has a meeting today in order to discuss the WRC future. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that there was a speculation about Rally2 plus or Rally1 minor cars earlier this year with Toyota having already tested its new Yaris during their preparations for Croatia Rally last April.
