The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, reveals that he will be present in a limited number of WRC rounds as Toyota's team principal next year as he will return back to rallying.
Latvala took over Tommi Makinen's team principal duties at Toyota in 2021 and the Japanese team managed to become a WRC Manufacturer Champion for three consecutive years. However, Akio Toyoda permitted Latvala to race with the GR Yaris Rally1 at Rally Finland a year ago while he drove the GR Yaris Rally2 at his home event last August. On the first occasion, Toyoda replaced Latvala whereas Kaj Lindstrom was the person in charge four months ago. FIA created European Historic Rally Championship earlier this year and Latvala is set to get behind the wheel of his Celica GT-Four ST185 in 2025 which means that Toyota has to find someone to replace the Finn when he will be absent from some WRC rounds.
"For sure, I will be in Monte Carlo and Sweden as team principal", Latvala said.
"After that we are looking at the calendar".
