Enni Malkonen reveals that she caught by surprise by Sami Pajari's decision to terminate their collaboration after what they have achieved together in rallying.
Pajari and Malkonen are the WRC2 Champions for the 2024 season and clinched their maiden title in Japan yesterday, but the first one stated to DirtFish that he would find a new navigator for 2025. The crew from Finland had many successes together apart from their recent crown in WRC2 class while they made three outings at the top level earlier this year where they finished fourth at Rally Finland three months ago. Together they managed to win nine times and to be at the podium positions in 14 rallies while they were the WRC3 Open Champions back in 2022. Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT announced today that Pajari will do a full season with them next year driving the fourth GR Yaris Rally1 and it is expected that he will confirm his next navigator soon.
"As you know, I will no longer be working as Sami's co-driver", Malkonen said.
"Sami and I have had big dreams together, we've put in the hard work and achieved them.
"Sami's decision to make a change has taken me by surprise and I'm understandably very sad about it.
"This was not the decision that I wanted.
"I have always done my best and together we had great achievements; 9 wins, 14 podiums and WRC2 championship.
"I have dedicated over 10 years of my life to rallying and I hope and believe that my journey towards the top continues.
"When one door closes another one opens.
"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Printsport and Toyota for their unwavering support and belief in me during this past year.
"These have been the best days of my life.
"It has been a great honor to work with you.
"I wish Sami all the success in the future!"
