The team principal of M-Sport Ford, Richard Millener, reveals that his team is in discussions with Martins Sesks for the new WRC season after what the last one achieved at the top level earlier in 2024.
The Latvian driver made his WRC debut with the non-hybrid Puma at Rally Poland where he impressed everyone with his performance as he was the second-fastest driver in one Friday morning stage and completed this loop at the second place. He continued impressing us at his home event where he was fighting for the top positions with the three WRC Champions (Ott Tanak, Sebastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanpera), but eventually he dropped from third to seventh as his hybrid Puma faced transmission issues just 600 meters into Powerstage. M-Sport Ford wanted to test him in one more event, thus they gave him the chance to compete with the non-hybird Puma at Rally Chile where he finished 24th as he was forced to retire after a double puncture on Friday morning and restarted under the SuperRally regulations on Saturday. Last but not least, Sesks was present at the Central European Rally and had some talks with M-Sport Ford ahead of the new season while it is rumored that Adrien Fourmaux has already signed a contract with Hyundai Motorsport for the 2025 WRC season.
"He came to talk about the situation", Millener said.
"I think you know my feelings, the team’s feelings – we would very much like to work with Mārtiņš into the future and he’s on a shortlist of drivers we’re talking to.
"What he achieved with us this season was very, very impressive and we remain aware of that.
"We need to talk about what he can do, I think people are understanding of the fact that we need budget to make things happen.
"There’s desire to make it work, right now we’re talking and let’s see what we can do".
