Sami Pajari announced that he and Enni Malkonen end their partnership at the end of Rally Japan after their having achieved two titles together.
Pajari and Malkonen are the WRC2 Champions for 2024 season as they did a fantastic job in Japan this week having finished in second place in WRC2 class. Their collaboration started in 2021 while they competed in WRC2 and in WRC3 in 2022 where they clinched the WRC3 Open title. A year ago, Toksport gave them a full-season campaign with the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 and they were able to win four times in WRC2 Challenger class. For this year, the crew from Finland had a seven-rally programme with the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 and were victorious three times while they secured their first ever WRC2 title in Japan today despite the fact that Oliver Solberg was the favorite one to become a WRC2 Champion for the 2024 season. The shocking news came just after the end of Rally Japan and was unexpectable as both of them did three outings at the top level with the best result being the fourth place at Rally Finland last August.
"For the moment this was the last rally for me together with Enni", Pajari said.
"I must say I’m super, super thankful and grateful for her, with all the hard work she’s been doing over the last three years, and I guess we achieved really, really nice things now.
"But yeah, I think it’s just something normal that happens in working life, that people come and go, and now our paths are pointing in different directions.
"Never say never that we won’t drive together, but I mean, what would be the better place to split than after we achieved the main goal what was set for the season, win the championship and here again on the podium.
"So we will celebrate together".
