Rally Japan - 4th Day: Evans wins after Tanak's crash, Neuville and Toyota are the 2024 Champions



At the end of Sunday, Elfyn Evans claims his second victory in a row in Japan with Sebastien Ogier and Adrien Fourmaux completing the top three.

Elfyn Evans moved up to first place when Ott Tanak crashed in Stage 17 and it is his second cosecutive win in Japan

Sebastien Ogier does the 1-2 for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT and was the fastest driver in Powerstage securing the five extra points from it.

Adrien Fourmaux secures his fifth podium of the season with M-Sport Ford as he finished once again in third place.

Takamoto Katsuta finished in fourth place overall on his home event and set the fastest time in Stage 20.

Gregoire Munster completes the top five despite the fact that he hit something on the left and the steering was quite bent in Stage 17.

Thierry Neuville finished in sixth position and is the first driver from Belgium who became a WRC Champion. Moreover, he was the fastest driver in SS18 and SS19 while he was the top driver at SuperSunday.

Andreas Mikkelsen restarted under the SuperRally regulations today and set the fastest time in Stage 17 despite the fact that there was fluid and smoke at the end of that stage. In addition to that, he made a mistake in Powerstage as he went off the road into trees, but he managed to get going again.

Ott Tanak had a huge crash on the opening stage of Sunday resulting in losing the win of Rally Japan and the chances to fight for this year's title.

Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT is the 2024 Manufacturer Champion as the team finished just three points ahead of Hyundai.
