Oliver Solberg announced today that he will drive a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 next year which means that 2024 was his last season with Skoda Motorsport and Toksport.
The Swede driver signed a contract with Toksport and Skoda Motorsport at the end of 2022 when he lost his seat at Hyundai and extended their deal with them for one more season. He and Elliott Edmondson were among the title contenders for this year's WRC2 title after having claimed three victories and 59 stage wins, but the championship was decided at the season finale in Japan where Sami Pajari and Enni Malkonen managed to stole the title and to become the 2024 WRC2 Champions. As Pajari drove a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 this year and secured a full campaign with the Japanese team for 2025, Solberg grabbed the opportunity and will drive the same car with PrintSport next season. Diego Dominguez also will get behind the wheel of a GR Yaris Rally2 in 2025, but he and Solberg will drive for different teams.
"My new chapter in life joining the Toyota family", Solberg said.
"Very proud and excited to be starting a new chapter in life joining the Toyota family.
"Such an iconic brand in rallying and it’s always been a big dream for me, now I’m going to drive a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 in the WRC2 championship for 2025 with Printsport".
