Cyril Abiteboul says that Hyundai keeps three positive things from Rallye Monte Carlo despite the fact that the team is desappointed considering their last year's win there.
Adrien Fourmaux was the top Hyundai driver as he finished third overall and was able to fight for the podium places with Sebastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans. On the other hand, Ott Tanak completed the top five and made a costly mistake in Stage 6 when he went into a ditch and damaged the rear of his i20N while Thierry Neuville made three mistakes in total. However, it must be mentioned that the 2024 WRC Champion was leading Rallye Monte Carlo at the end of Thursday while Hyundai claimed six stage wins. Finally, the Alzenau-based team is second on the standings with 36 points and is behind the first Toyota for 24 points.
"After a win here last year a third-place finish comes somewhat as a disappointment, but there are plenty of positives to be taken from this weekend", Abiteboul said.
"The first one is Adrien's result in his first weekend with the team, and I am sure we will see a lot more this year as he gets fully familiar with the car and the team.
"Another positive is that our drivers managed to take the right approach to the challenges they were facing, which will be the key to this long and unpredictable championship.
"Finally, the car overall has been competitive across the course of the weekend; with the evolutions to come in Sweden and interesting road positions we are all really looking forward to the next round".
