Lorenzo Bertelli confirmed that he will not take part at Rally Sweden this week without saying the reason why behind this decision.
The Italian driver would drive the fifth Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 as a privateer after his successful outing with the same car in Sweden a year ago where he finished tenth overall. Moreover, his first outing with the GR Yaris was at Rally Sweden in 2023 where he finished in 14th position overall and this week would be his third consecutive outing with the Yaris. However, Bertelli hinted that he might participate in another WRC round later this year and one potential event would be Rally Italia Sardegna which is his home event. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that there will be 11 Rally1 cars at Rally Sweden after Bertelli's withdrawal.
"Regrettably, Simone and I will not be participating in WRC Rally Sweden this week", Bertelli said.
"Everything was set for what is always one of our favorite rallies of the season, but unforeseen work commitments have come up.
"Thank you to Toyota Gazoo Racing Yaris Rally1 Team for working so hard in preparation of the event and apologies to all the fans who were eager to cheer us on through the snowy forests of Sweden.
"We hope to have the opportunity to compete at another event later in the season".
