Katsuta retires from Safari Rally after Powerstage

Takamoto Katsuta has failed to return his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 at the Service Park following his incident in Powerstage.

The Japanese star was in fourth position overall at the end of Stage 20 and was among the drivers who were fighting for the first place of SuperSunday standings. However, he and Aaron Johnston rolled their car on a high-speed section of Powerstage, but they managed to complete the stage thanks to the spectators' help. They were slower than the fastest Adrien Fourmaux for more than three minutes in Powerstage resulting in dropping one place and slipping behind Sami Pajari on the classification. The question mark was if they would be able to return back to the Service Park as they were pushing their damaged Yaris until the stop control. Eventually, Toyota decided to retire their car which means that this is the first DNF of the season for Katsuta.
