At the end of Friday, Elfyn Evans is the new rally leader of Safari Rally with Kalle Rovanpera and Ott Tanak following him.
Elfyn Evans climbed to the first place overall at the end of Stage 9 after Ott Tanak's problems since SS9 while he had a rear right suspension in Stage 10.
Kalle Rovanpera moved up to second and is only 7,7 seconds behind his teammate as he managed to decrease their gap by his setting the fastest time on the final two stages of Friday.
Ott Tanak dropped from first to third overall at the end of Stage 9 as he was driving slowly due to mechanical issues. He removed the front right driveshaft before the start of Stage 10 while he had oil leak at the end of Stage 8 resulting in having a RWD i20N.
Thierry Neuville remains in fourth position and does the 3-4 for Hyundai Motorsport while he received a 50-second time penalty for being 5 minutes late at the TC of Stage 8.
Takamoto Katsuta completes the top five and suffered from a front left puncture in Stage 9.
Sami Pajari follows his teammate for 52,7 seconds.
Josh McErlean is in seventh position overall and lost two places on Friday afternoon as he had to drive in road mode since Stage 8 while he stopped in Stage 7 twice due to the fact that there was smoke in his Puma and wanted to check something.
Gregoire Munster is just one place far from the top ten at the end of Friday.
Adrien Fourmaux retired again from Safari Rally as he had a puncture and a broken front right suspension in Stage 7.
