Safari Rally - 4th Day: Evans victorious as Rovanpera retires



At the end of Sunday, Elfyn Evans is the winner of this year's Safari Rally Kenya with Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville following him.

Elfyn Evans wins Safari Rally Kenya for the first time in his career and put Toyota at the highest place of the podium for fifth consecutive year.

Ott Tanak finished second overall as his gap from Evans was over a minute. He was the fastest driver in Stage 17.

Thierry Neuville does the 2-3 for Hyundai Motorsport.

Sami Pajari moved ahead of Katsuta at the end of Powerstage and finished fourth overall.

Takamoto Katsuta was not able to secure another podium finish in Kenya and dropped to fifth at the end of Powerstage as he rolled his Yaris on a high-speed section while he was the fastest driver in Stage 18 and 20. However, he had a half spin in Stage 17.

Gregoire Munster finished in sixth position overall and had a half spin in Stage 18 resulting in stalling his Puma. Moreover, he was driving slowly near the end of Stage 19 due to gearbox issues.

Josh McErlean finished outside the top ten and carried a front end damage after the end of Stage 17.

Adrien Fourmaux restarted today under the SuperRally regulations and set the fastest time in Stage 19 and Powerstage. Moreover, he topped the SuperSunday standings.

Kalle Rovanpera was forced to retire before the start of Stage 18 due to technical issues. In fact, he suffered from a puncture in Stage 17 while hechanged the alternator belt at the end of this stage.
